We went to Destiny Farms in May 2024. We drove from Bangalore. To begin with, the drive to Ooty is very beautiful through the reserved forests in KA and TN. The team at Destiny was very prompt is directing us to the resort. They shared a map link in advance and also requested us to share our live location once we reached Ooty. The boards to Destiny along the way are a bit indistinct but the written instructions provided by the team prior to journey help in identifying them - we also called them just before reaching and truck was waiting for us at the parking lot. The last 1 KM of the journey to the parking lot is bumpy. We went in a VW Polo and had to be bit careful. But contrary to many reviews here, the journey from the parking lot to the resort in their vehicle is not that bad. Yes, it is bumpy, but is similar to any off road journey, infact slower. We travelled with our 3 year old and her grand parents. The resort itself is very beautiful. We stayed there for 3 nights and the destiny team has activities planned for even and alternate days. Unlike other resorts, Destiny has some activity or the other by the hour. Our highlight was the trek to Sun Dance. We managed the trek with our 3 year old. There were others on the trek with even smaller babies ( a few months old). The trek guide, Ziaulhaq, was ver knowledgeable and patient (as one has to be with babies and toddlers) and he made our trek memorable! We also did the off road drive to pine forest (a paid activity) as the trek/walk to the Pine Forest involved walking through muddy water and we did not want to do that as we had a baby (although others with babies have done it I believe). The off road drive in the jeep was also beautiful and very nice. Our guide and driver Manikandan showed us around well. My daughter really enjoyed the farm stay as she got to see many animals that she reads about such as horses, swans, sheep, cows, etc. We took the biggest rooms (forget what it is called) and they were spacious. The rooms are fine but do not expect luxury. They are very spacious, largely clean and meet the expectation of staying in an off beat working farm. The restaurant has a wide variety of menus. The food was decent but the service was excellent. As we were travelling with our baby, Jancy (Captain) from the restaurant went out of her way to accommodate our requests for food for our daughter (even at times when the kitchen was not operational). Special shout out to her for making our stay all the more memorable! While checking out, there was some confusion as we wanted to leave early as we needed to drive back but there was nobody at the reception early in the morning to arrange for a buggy for our suitcases. However, the vehicle to take us back was there on time and we were able to leave. A minor blip in our otherwise amazing experience. Overall, highly highly recommend the place. Very beautiful, away from the noisy bustle of city life, very relaxing and has enough activities to keep kids engaged (they have really thought through the finer details such as having a kids menu, having a sand pit with digging toys for kids, a trampoline etc.). Would like to revisit again!

Heavenly experience

I recently visited this resort with my family for a well deserved break. This resort is located in a very picturesque environment, nestled in the Nilgiri hills. The views from all the rooms in the resort face the mountains and it’s a pleasure to wake up everyday and sit in the balcony sipping hot coffee with cookies. The activities in the resort are planned in such a way that you hardly have a free time during the day. All the activists bring you closer to the nature and allows you to spend quality time with the family. The animals are very well fed and guest have a great time feeding them. The highlight of the activities is the sheep feeding. The other highlight is the swing placed in the garden. While swinging, you feel like going straight down the mountains, literally! The restaurant time led by the restaurant manager and the du-chef did a great job in keep the guests well fed, with some sumptuous food preparations on all the days. They even prepared a cake to celebrate my wife’s birthday.

Destiny has fallen hard from grace!

We went with high hopes based on my earlier experience with Destiny Farmstay 15 years ago. The recent trip was terribly disappointing and horrible - a shame that it fell so hard from grace! Here are the points why I recommend you don't waste your money here: Accessibility: It hasn't improved in years! Still a zero in accessibility for the handicapped and senior citizens. The approach road still takes you through a 30 minute bumpy ride. Hygiene: Poorer than a below average hotel! Towels were dirty, sheets were dirty, and the hygiene at the restaurant is a sure deal breaker! Room: Room was spacious but the toiletry was pathetic and of poor quality. We stayed in super premium room that didnt have a fan or AC or heater. The towels were dirty. There was kettle but no spoons to stir tea. Tea bags were poor. Food: Horrible! They served us dal that had gone bad, a raita that was not a raita but just cut cucumber put on top of curd, and water that had a dead fly floating in it! The restaurant was filthy in all aspects. Staff: Not trained much. Everyone seems busy but no one is really serving an experience that we once cherished at the same property. The staff uniform looks dirty ... everyone's! Again, shows that the overall focus on hygiene is absent. Overall: Highly overpriced! I would not recommend you coming all the way here to experience all the things at their worst. Views you can experience in Coonoor and Ooty while avoiding all the ill feeling.

Worst Resort Ever Visited

The worst resort I have ever visited… Right from the time we checked in… Very rude staff… No proper staff for service… there was no management by the higher level staff… Every staff back answered upon asking anything… They have activities for which they didn’t have proper trained personnel… Fishing activity where the attendant didn’t know how to swim and an incident occurred where a 2 year girl in our group fell in the water and there was no help from the attendant there… WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYBODY TO VISIT THE PROPERTY EVEN IF THEY CALL U FOR FREE

Good (enough) but not great -- given the price

The farm resort is nice enough and the people are generally friendly but not entirely competent always. Food and drinks generally took a long time. The playground needed some repair on the swings (simple repair) and it never really got done. The room is fine, simple, but not the luxurious abode advertised on the Destiny web site. Getting to the resort involves 3km of a very very bumpy road -- which need not be so uncomfortable but the vehicles used have absolutely no suspension. A better vehicle would make the ride much easier. The food was good but not great -- the selection was ok. Again not too bad at all but for the resort price, one would expect more on that front. The kids activities have lots of potential but they are stopped after 20-30 mins as they need to staff elsewhere. For example, for the towel origami, the lady just showed the kids what she does with towels but there was no time for the kids to actually try it out themselves. For the pot painting, the kids had to quickly do one layer of paint but there was no time to let the paint dry and do a 2nd layer. For everything, the activities could have really busied the kids; instead, they were finished and unsatisfied and looking for something else to do. ALso, the activities did not always start on time, sometimes they started earlier, sometimes later so we missed some and waited for some. Horseback riding: my daughter is a good horseback rider so I suppose we are picky but the staff have very little idea of keeping horses well and getting lay people to ride. The horseback riding session involved going around a track once for about 2-3 minutes, no more. This is not proper riding -- such a pity with the open spaces and beautiful surroundings but to let people get off the property, one needs horse riders who are fairly professional and know what they are doing with horses...
